Bengaluru: The State Government has strongly defended Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, after right-wing group leaders raised objections on the inclusion of the deputy commissioner’s name in the invitation of a Hindu temple.
T B Jayachandra, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister for the state, addressing mediapersons told that, since the Deputy Commissioner is the administrative head of the entire district and also heads the temples coming under the Muzrai Department in the district, there is nothing wrong in printing the Deputy Commissioner’s name in the invitation.
“The State Government does not make any distinction of caste, creed or color,” he said.
Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary defended the deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim and said that Karnataka is a secular state and the DC is the chief of the district Muzrai Department. So it was right in adding his name in the invitation.
