Bengaluru: Harassment from money lenders, man ends life

Bengaluru: The owner of a gym in the Gangammanagudi area ended his life as he could no bear the harassment of money lenders. The 28-year-old victim, R. Manohar, left a suicide note in which he named five money lenders. Additionally, he made a video of himself in which he explained the harassment in detail and said that he had paid them four times more interest than the principal.

Manohar’s brother R. Ajay, a degree student, claimed in a complaint that Harish, Manjunath Prasad, Raju, Abhi, and Nageshwar Rao tortured his brother into taking the extreme step. The suspects are accused of abetting suicide in a case that has been filed.

For the last four years, Manohar, a resident of Kammagondanahalli’s 11th Main, had been running a here. He is said to have started the gym just a few days before the lockdown started, and incurred loss. He had borrowed money from the five suspects to start the gym, but he was unable to repay the loan because of the high interest.

According to sources, the suspects had been going near the victim’s home and harassing him to return the money.

Police arrested all the accused on Wednesday September 31.
