Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Monday reserved its verdict after completing arguments on a plea challenging the State Government’s permission to the CBI to prosecute KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar in a disproportionate assets case.
A single-judge bench headed by Justice K. Natarajan was hearing the petition. Shivakumar has been charged under sections 13(2) and 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, in another petition seeking quashing of the proceedings against him.
The Income Tax Department had conducted searches and seizure operations at Shivakumar’s offices and residences in 2017, on the basis of which the Enforcement Directorate had initiated its own probe against him.
