In a touching show of compassion, residents across Bengaluru have come together to support Kusumanjali, a Class 10 student undergoing treatment after losing a limb in an accident.
A resident of Girinagar, who had planned to donate Rs 25,000 to a religious mutt in memory of his grandfather, changed his decision after reading about the girl’s struggle.
He instead donated the full amount to Kusumanjali’s family.
A story that moved many
Kusumanjali, from Chinnanaganahalli, underwent amputation after being hit by a tractor last year.
Her family had already exhausted their finances on surgery and continued treatment for a bone infection.
The donor said helping the young student felt like a more meaningful tribute and urged society to stand by children facing hardship.
More people join the cause
The resident also shared the appeal within his support group called Spandana, which has 120 members who regularly contribute to help poor families.
Several members reportedly stepped forward, taking the expected collective contribution to around Rs 50,000.
By Tuesday evening, Good Samaritans from different parts of Bengaluru had donated around Rs 65,000 to the family.
Leaders extend support
S Suresh Kumar said he was overwhelmed by the generosity shown by citizens and expected further support to reach the family.
He had earlier coordinated assistance along with the Chief Minister’s Office for immediate medical needs.
Treatment to continue free
Kusumanjali is now set to be shifted to Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, where further treatment will continue free of cost.
Her father said any excess funds would be preserved for her education.
Humanity shines bright
The response has become a powerful reminder that kindness still moves cities — and hope often arrives through strangers.
