In a landmark initiative, United Way Bengaluru, with financial backing from GE Aerospace India (GEIIPL), has provided six e-autos to women from marginalized communities, each equipped with a smartphone. This program aims to create sustainable livelihoods and promote eco-friendly transportation.

Launched at an event at the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s Office, the initiative saw the presence of Police Commissioner Shri B. Dayananda, IPS, along with Sanjeev Jha, India Volunteering Leader, GE Aerospace, and Rajesh Krishnan, CEO of United Way Bengaluru. Supported by Parihar, an initiative from the Commissioner’s Office, the program equips women with training to operate e-autos and partner with ride-hailing apps.

The eco-conscious e-autos are designed to reduce pollution, curb emissions, and lower noise levels, contributing to Bengaluru’s sustainability goals. “This program will empower women to lead independent lives and earn a dignified livelihood,” said Rajesh Krishnan.

Sanjeev Jha highlighted GE Aerospace’s commitment to impactful community initiatives, noting, “This program is a meaningful step towards creating livelihoods with dignity and respect.” Commissioner B. Dayananda added, “This public-private partnership showcases how we can drive both social and environmental progress.”

By combining women’s empowerment and environmental sustainability, this initiative marks a significant stride towards a more inclusive and greener Bengaluru.
