Bengaluru: After over 15 years of carving their own musical paths, Bengaluru-based brothers Judah and Jared Sandhy decided to reunite eight months ago when Jared returned from the US.
While Jared honed his skills overseas, collaborating with guitar virtuoso Rusty Cooley, Judah built his career in India, contributing to the Kannada film industry, composing for over 25 films in the last decade.
Earlier this month, the brothers experienced a nostalgic moment when their progressive rock band, Slain, reunited to open for American rock icons Mr Big in Bengaluru. The gig rekindled their passion, paving the way for their latest project—Jared and Judah.
Their upcoming debut album, set to release in the next two months, blends pop, rock, postmodern metal, and indie influences. “Bengalureans have a diverse musical taste. I love Ilaiyaraaja just as much as Dream Theatre,” shares Jared. Their inspirations span Bon Jovi, Toto, White Snake, and gospel artists like Don Moen.
Music runs deep in their family—father Simon Augustin Sandhy, a violinist, has played for legends like Hamsalekha and Gurukiran, while their grandfather’s church served as their earliest jam space.
Beyond independent music, the duo is composing for 10 Kannada films in 2025, proving that versatility is key. “Film music is challenging but rewarding. Directors seek fresh sounds,” Judah reflects.
