Bengaluru traffic police have fined a car owner for allowing his children to pop out of the car’s sunroof while the vehicle was in traffic. This incident, deemed an unsafe driving practice, has prompted warnings from the authorities about the dangers and legal consequences of such actions.

Incident Details

According to a report by The Times of India, the police issued a challan of ₹1000 to the vehicle owner near Marathahalli Road. The incident involved a Kia Seltos with two children gazing through its sunroof. The violation was brought to the attention of the police after an X user spotted it and posted it on social media.

Official Statement

Bengaluru Traffic Police Commissioner MN Anucheth emphasized that allowing anyone to pop out of a sunroof is considered a violation due to its inherent danger. “Numerous accidents happen due to people coming out of the sunroofs on roads. It is a dangerous driving practice and it will also harm others’ safety on the road. Other than safety, doing such things is illegal, and many are unaware of the rules. A ₹1000 fine will be imposed if anyone is found violating the rule,” he stated.

Rising Concerns

A senior police official noted a significant increase in the number of people coming out of sunroofs, especially on busy roads and highways. He stressed the importance of prioritizing safety, saying, “So many people are coming out of sunroofs on busy roads and highways. It is high time that they must prioritize their own safety.”

The Bengaluru police’s action against the car owner serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with popping out of sunroofs and the legal ramifications of such behavior. The authorities continue to urge commuters to adhere to safety regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all road users.
