In a significant step towards improving animal welfare, Bengaluru welcomed its first dedicated cat rehabilitation and adoption centre on Thursday. Located in Yelachenahalli, near the bustling Kanakapura Road in Southern Bengaluru, the centre aims to provide comprehensive care for injured, feral, abandoned, and rescued cats.

This initiative is a collaboration between Tekion, the innovator of a cloud-native platform for the automotive retail ecosystem, and the Praana Animal Foundation, a Bengaluru-based non-profit. As part of Tekion’s global corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, the centre will offer a wide range of services, including emergency care, postoperative care, rehabilitation, and support for cat adoption.

Rana Robillard, Chief People Officer of Tekion, expressed pride in the partnership, noting that the centre will not only provide essential care but also raise awareness about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. “We are proud to partner with Praana Animal Foundation to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable cats across Bengaluru,” she said.

The centre is the third collaboration between Tekion and Praana Animal Foundation, following the successful launch of a 24/7 animal ambulance service in Bengaluru. Samyukta Hornad, actress and founder of Praana Animal Foundation, shared her excitement, stating, “This centre is a dream come true for me as it’s the first post-care unit in India for cats. With Tekion’s support, we will provide specialized care and find loving homes for cats.”

The centre, designed with cat-themed murals created by local students from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath and other art schools, will also offer educational sessions and workshops for school children to foster compassion and respect for animals.
