People’s Planet, a prominent environmental organization, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to plant one million trees and establish urban forests across Bengaluru. The project aims to transform the city into a prime example of green urban spaces while honoring the legacy of renowned personalities.

The initiative was officially launched at Raj Bhavan by Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, alongside Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre and other distinguished leaders. The large-scale afforestation effort aims to boost Bengaluru’s green cover and promote environmental sustainability.

Each tree planted as part of this project will be geo-tagged, ensuring transparency and enabling continuous monitoring for long-term conservation. In a tribute to Karnataka’s beloved figures, the urban forests will be named in memory of icons like Dr Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar, SM Krishna, and other influential personalities who have made a significant impact on society.
