Bengaluru’s Kengeri police have initiated a murder investigation after a 46-year-old lawyer, Jagadish H, was discovered lifeless on NICE Road late Friday night, bearing several injuries.

Jagadish was found roughly 150 metres from his KIA Seltos, which was parked along the highway. The vehicle’s parking lights were still on and it was locked, with visible damage indicating a possible crash preceding the fatal assault.

The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged following a complaint from Jagadish’s younger brother, Dr Prabhanjan A, 37, a medical practitioner. Around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Dr Prabhanjan received a phone call from a man named Harsha B, informing him of the tragic discovery.

Upon reaching the location, Dr Prabhanjan observed severe head and body injuries on his brother, suggesting he had been brutally attacked. According to his statement to the police, unidentified individuals might have intentionally rammed the vehicle, forcing Jagadish to exit, before assaulting him with a weapon and murdering him. The lawyer’s mobile phone was missing from the scene, adding to suspicions of foul play.

The complaint alleges that the attackers orchestrated a staged accident to trap and eliminate Jagadish.

NICE Road, known for reckless speeding and frequent vehicular races, has previously witnessed multiple accidents and incidents of road rage.

Authorities are currently examining all angles, including personal enmity and planned assault, while efforts are on to trace the missing phone and identify suspects through CCTV footage.
