Panic in Bengaluru Neighborhood
Panic has gripped the residents of the Kudlu Gate locality in Bengaluru, located near Whitefield, following the reported sighting of a leopard in the area. The presence of this wild cat has left residents feeling vulnerable and apprehensive, causing them to stay indoors and carry canes for a sense of security when moving around.
Leopard Captured on CCTV
The alarming situation escalated when various incidents of the leopard’s movements were captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. These incidents included the leopard’s presence in the car garage, apartment premises, near the lift, the compound, and parking lot area during the early hours of October 29. In addition to the surveillance footage, local residents and beat police also reported sightings of the leopard.
Forest Department’s Search Operation
Responding to these reports, the forest department initiated a search operation in an attempt to locate and secure the elusive feline. However, despite their efforts, the leopard could not be found, leaving residents in a state of heightened concern.
Protective Measures Implemented
In light of the situation, the forest department has taken precautionary measures by placing cages at various locations. Additionally, residents have been advised not to venture out during the night, with a particular emphasis on individuals living in Bommanahalli, HSR Layout, and BTM Layout.
Government Response
Five teams, operating under the supervision of Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) S.S. Lingaraja and District Forest Officer (DFO) Ravindra, have been assembled to address the situation and ensure the safety of the residents in the affected areas.
