A man in Bengaluru was taken into custody after a video of his risky roadside stunt — casually sipping tea while seated on a chair in the middle of a busy road — went viral on Instagram.

In the clip, the individual is seen calmly enjoying his tea as auto-rickshaws and bikes speed past him. The act, recorded on Magadi Road — a major traffic route in west Bengaluru — occurred on April 12 and quickly garnered attention online.

What was meant to be a quirky reel turned into a legal headache, as the viral video caught the eye of the Bengaluru City Police. Officers traced the man and arrested him on charges of “endangering public safety.”

On April 17, Bengaluru Police shared the video of the act and his arrest on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. “Taking tea time to the traffic line will brew you a hefty fine, not fame! BEWARE BCP is watching you,” their post warned, making it clear that such reckless antics won’t be tolerated.

Authorities emphasized that performing stunts on public roads is not only dangerous but also illegal, and those attempting to seek online fame by compromising safety will face strict consequences.

This incident serves as a cautionary tale for social media users tempted to create risky content for likes and views.
