A 50-year-old Shivajinagar resident, Mansoor, was arrested for making a fake bomb threat ahead of Republic Day. Upset over losing his provision store, Mansoor called the Bengaluru police control room on January 9, claiming an attack was being planned for January 26.

During the call, he alleged that six individuals were involved in the plot, providing their names, addresses, and phone numbers. He even referenced the Rameshwaram Café blast from last year, which injured 10 people, to bolster his claim.

Police immediately began an investigation to verify the information. Mansoor was quickly tracked to his residence, where it was discovered that his accusations stemmed from personal grievances. A senior officer revealed, “He falsely implicated the shop owner and others involved in selling the store.”

Mansoor was arrested, presented in court, and remanded to judicial custody. Legal proceedings are ongoing, as the police confirmed they are treating the matter seriously due to the potential public panic caused by such threats.
