A 30-year-old resident of Bengaluru stirred an intense debate online after seeking advice from fellow Indians on whether staying in the country is worth it or if he should “just leave.” Posting on Reddit, he shared that he and his wife earn nearly ₹60 lakh annually but are increasingly disillusioned.
Despite a stable income, he lamented the crumbling infrastructure. Living in Horemavu, Bengaluru, he described how a 3 km commute drains him as it takes nearly 40 minutes. Roads, he said, are either jammed, damaged, or under perpetual construction with no visible accountability.
He voiced frustration over heavy taxation without tangible returns. Comparing India to countries like Germany and Canada, he noted that while taxes are equally high abroad, citizens there receive quality public healthcare, free education, and functional infrastructure. In India, he said, “we get nothing back,” not even clean drinking water.
The man criticized the deteriorating living standards — air filled with dust, constant noise, rampant stress, and aggressive road behavior. He admitted to feeling unsafe letting his wife step out alone after sunset. With rising costs and stagnant income, he questioned if staying made any sense.
While expressing a sincere desire to contribute positively to the nation, he shared his disappointment that the system seemed rigged against honest taxpayers. Fellow Redditors largely advised him to leave India, warning that political interests continue to compromise basic quality of life.
