In a bid to make travel convenient for revelers during Bengaluru‘s New Year celebrations, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has announced extended metro services for December 31, 2024. This special arrangement will provide smoother travel for city residents and reduce congestion as they enjoy the festivities.

Both the Purple and Green lines of Namma Metro will operate until 2:00 AM on January 1, 2025, with the last train departing from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station (Majestic) at 2:40 AM. To accommodate the expected crowd, trains will run every 10 minutes starting from 11:00 PM on December 31.

To ensure crowd control, entry and exit points at the MG Road Metro Station will be closed from 11:00 PM onwards. Passengers are advised to use nearby stations such as Cubbon Park and Trinity as alternatives. For those traveling late, BMRCL has introduced a return journey paper ticket priced at Rs 50 for passengers departing from MG Road.

BMRCL has also suggested specific stations for those traveling towards certain areas: passengers heading to Silk Institute and Whitefield should board from Trinity, while those traveling to Madivala and Challaghatta should use Cubbon Park.

This extended service ensures that residents and visitors can enjoy the celebrations without worrying about transport, adding to the festive spirit of Bengaluru. Meanwhile, the Fare Fixation Committee is expected to submit recommendations for a fare hike, possibly ranging from 10% to 15%, with a decision due soon.
