Despite ongoing debates on last-mile connectivity, a crucial commuter requirement—parking—remains missing at several Bengaluru Metro stations. Out of the existing 68 operational stations, 14 lack designated parking zones, leaving passengers with limited choices. While three of these stations might eventually get parking, the rest will remain without this provision, confirmed senior officials from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

Garudacharpalaya and Sri Sathya Sai Hospital stations on the Purple Line have recently joined the list of Metro stations without parking, despite initially having the facility.

A BMRCL official stated, “The contractors, who secured the license a year ago, withdrew from the agreement citing poor viability. Since they abandoned the contract midway, they were blacklisted. Despite two rounds of tendering, no new bidders have come forward.” As a result, the space has now been repurposed for commercial use, with only Metro staff currently permitted to park.

Other stations without parking include MG Road, Cubbon Park, Vidhana Soudha, Sir M Visvesvaraya, Goraguntepalya, Yeswanthpur, Srirampura, KR Market, Lalbagh, South End Circle, RV Road, and Benniganahalli. Parking at Benniganahalli is temporarily closed due to escalator installation but will resume post-completion.

For RV Road and Srirampura, BMRCL plans to invite tenders soon. However, in high-density areas like Yeswanthpur and Goraguntepalya, space constraints and high land costs make parking unfeasible.
