A woman and her young daughter were discovered dead in their residence in eastern Bengaluru on Monday morning, shocking their community.
According to police, Shreeja Reddy, 24, who worked as a data analyst at a private firm, is believed to have died by suicide at their Nagondanahalli home near Whitefield-Hoskote Road. Around 10:40 am, her mother, Rachitha Reddy, 48, found her unresponsive. Overcome with shock, she immediately phoned her husband, Shreedhar Reddy, who was at work.
Shreedhar quickly contacted a neighbour, asking him to check on them. When the neighbour entered the house, he made a harrowing discovery: Rachitha was also dead, hanging from the ceiling, while Shreeja lay lifeless on the bed.
Police were alerted shortly after 11 am. During their investigation, officers recovered what appeared to be a suicide note written in Telugu by Shreeja, describing her struggles with depression. Authorities suspect Rachitha took her own life after finding her only daughter dead.
The family, originally from Andhra Pradesh, had been living in Bengaluru for several years. The Whitefield police have registered an unnatural death report (UDR) and are continuing inquiries.
Neighbours and friends expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the two women as warm and gentle.
