The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway now boasts an AI-enabled Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) under new National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) guidelines. These guidelines, updated to incorporate 2023 technology advancements, promise significant improvements in road safety and incident response times.

The ATMS will reduce accidents, enhance physical enforcement through Route Patrol Vehicles, and implement digital enforcement with eChallans. This system will also ensure reliable travel experiences using advanced technologies and real-time traffic management strategies.

Vehant Technologies has implemented 242 AI-enabled video analytics use cases for the ATMS on NH-275, in partnership with Tecsidel Eysa. This includes Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems, Speed Violation detection with 4D Radars, Traffic Video Analytics, Video Incident Detection System (VIDS), and Automatic Traffic Counter and Classifier (ATCC). The system features a Central Management System (CMS) dashboard and a Centralized Electronic Challan system to enhance public safety and operational efficiency.

The updated ATMS guidelines aim to improve road safety by detecting various incidents like triple riding, helmet and seatbelt violations, wrong lane driving, and more. The system can also identify accident collisions, vehicles ramming into siderails or medians, and opposite-side traffic. It detects stationary vehicles, animals on the highway, pedestrian crossings, and monitors for fog, smoke, or low visibility. Additionally, it can detect debris or fallen objects impacting traffic.

The TraffiMon-SVD system now includes ANPR, over-speeding detection, average speed monitoring, and wrong lane driving analytics. It also detects seat-belt violations, no helmet use in two-wheelers, triple riding, and banned vehicles.
