Bengaluru: The government has not made a decision regarding handing over the Mangaluru autorickshaw terror blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday November 21.
Bommai said that the accused, who was injured in the explosion, is receiving treatment. “He is unable to speak as a pipe is in his throat. His identification has been confirmed by his family. We have provided the NIA with the information, but we haven’t decided whether to hand the case over to the central agency,” he added.
The accused’s personal information has been collected by the police, who are also looking into his ties to various places. “Now that we know who he is, the police are collecting more information, such as his contacts and, if any, other cases. The police are investigating if there is an organisation behind the suspect. They will take further action as soon as they have more information,” he said.
Bomma responded to Leader of the Opposition Siddaramiah’s allegation that the state government failed to maintain law and order by saying, “Siddaramiah was Chief Minister when many such cases happened. He cannot blame law and order responsible for the present incident.”
