Bengaluru on Rain Alert: 3 Dead in Weather Tragedies
After a series of relentless downpours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued another warning for Bengaluru, predicting continued rainfall until May 31. The city, still reeling from recent rain-induced accidents, is expected to experience cloudy skies, light showers, and cooler temperatures throughout the week.
According to IMD data, light rain is forecast for May 26 and 27, with daytime temperatures ranging from 20°C to 27°C. The weather is set to worsen midweek, with heavy rainfall expected on May 28 and 29, and minimum temperatures dropping to 19°C. The wet spell will likely continue through May 30 and 31, with highs between 20°C and 26°C.
Meanwhile, rain-related tragedies have claimed three lives this pre-monsoon season. On Monday evening, 63-year-old Manmohan Kamath was electrocuted while using a pump to drain floodwater from his home in NS Palya near BTM Layout Phase 2. Tragically, 12-year-old Dinesh, the son of a Nepalese worker in the same apartment, was also fatally electrocuted at the spot.
Earlier, 35-year-old Sasikala, a housekeeping worker, died after a compound wall collapsed on her near Mahadevapura. Police have confirmed that Unnatural Death Reports (UDRs) will be filed in all three cases.
Authorities urge citizens to stay indoors during intense rainfall and avoid waterlogged and high-risk zones.
