In a decisive move to tackle Bengaluru’s perennial pothole menace, BBMP Administrator Tushar Girinath has instructed officials to urgently address road damage using cold mix and eco-fix materials for faster and more efficient repairs — especially crucial during the ongoing monsoon season.
Chairing a meeting at the BBMP office, Girinath emphasized quick, zone-wise implementation across all eight BBMP zones. Local contractors have been tasked with sourcing asphalt immediately and commencing repairs without delay. Officials are also mandated to submit daily updates on the progress of pothole-filling efforts.
Currently, road asphalting projects worth ₹690 crore are underway, and Girinath stressed the need to wrap up these works swiftly to minimize disruption.
With 82 waterlogging hotspots expected to experience severe congestion during heavy rains, preventive measures have been ordered to ensure roads remain navigable. Officials have been directed to facilitate proper drainage by clearing and maintaining side drains.
Furthermore, 44 flood-prone areas have been identified for immediate interim solutions to prevent repeat flooding incidents. From temporary barricading to water redirection, BBMP is preparing a short-term relief framework while working on long-term stormwater solutions.
This urgent directive comes amid growing public frustration with deteriorating road conditions and traffic snarls worsened by rainfall. Girinath’s push signals a more proactive civic response aimed at ensuring safer, smoother roads for Bengaluru’s residents during the monsoon season.
