Bengaluru – A 25-year-old painter, Azeez Ahmed, succumbed to injuries sustained during a drunken brawl with two friends, Veeramani (25) and Pawan (21), on Tuesday evening. The incident took place on the night of May 8, in a vacant plot in RT Nagar’s Kanakanagar area.

According to police, the trio had gathered for a late-night party when a trivial argument escalated into violence. Veeramani and Pawan allegedly attacked Ahmed with a wooden log, leaving him with severe injuries to his head, neck, and body.

A passerby found Ahmed unconscious and lying in a pool of blood around 8 am the next morning and alerted authorities. When police arrived, Pawan was present at the scene, claiming that Ahmed had been injured in an accident.

However, doctors at Nimhans, where Ahmed was admitted, confirmed that his injuries were consistent with an assault, not an accident. Ahmed succumbed to his injuries after several days of treatment.

Both Veeramani and Pawan, residents of Coffee Board Layout, have been arrested on murder charges. Police are continuing the investigation to determine further details surrounding the altercation.
