A Bengaluru man recently endured a terrifying ordeal during a Rapido cab ride in Victoria Layout on February 25. What began as a minor dispute over air conditioning quickly spiraled into a dangerous confrontation when the driver, Nagaraj R, allegedly brandished a sharpened keychain and threatened him.
The passenger refused to cancel the ride after being asked to exit the vehicle, prompting the driver to turn aggressive. Sensing danger, he pointed toward a traffic cop, which made the driver hesitate. Seizing the opportunity, he escaped by boarding an auto nearby.
However, the nightmare didn’t end there. The victim, who shared his experience on Reddit under the username “DoggyDog_World2025,” soon found himself bombarded with harassing calls and OTP messages every 15 minutes. He believes the driver, having access to his number through Rapido, was behind the cyber harassment.
Despite reporting the incident, Rapido initially suspended the driver but failed to prevent further harassment. Even after confirming the driver’s suspension, the passenger continued receiving OTP spam. Frustrated, he questioned Rapido’s handling of customer safety, criticizing their failure to mask users’ phone numbers.
The police have since intervened, warning the driver and investigating the claims. The passenger hopes CCTV footage will confirm his allegations and ensure stricter action.
