Bengaluru passport officer targeted in Pakistan’s propaganda campaign
Pakistan’s social media users have falsely accused Ajit John Joshua, Bengaluru’s Regional Passport Officer, of being an operative of India’s intelligence agency, RAW. Posts on X claim he was in Iran meeting Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) leaders to plan attacks in Balochistan. These allegations come amid Islamabad’s continued claims that New Delhi sponsors terrorism in Pakistan’s restive province.
Pakistan-based X users, including Alpha Intel and Daniel Zahoor, have labeled Joshua as “Kulbhushan 2.0,” drawing comparisons to ex-Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is imprisoned in Pakistan on espionage charges. New Delhi swiftly dismissed the claims, with Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirming the tweets as fake.
Pakistan has long accused India of backing the BLA, which recently hijacked a train with 380 passengers. While Islamabad links New Delhi to such incidents, India has repeatedly denied any involvement. The ongoing misinformation campaign is seen as part of Pakistan’s strategy to deflect from internal security failures.
