A late-night fire at a paying guest accommodation in Nandini Layout caused panic after around 50 young women were forced to jump from the fourth floor to escape the flames.

The dramatic incident occurred on Sunday night, with visuals from the scene widely circulating online.

Fire spread within minutes

Officials said the blaze is believed to have started in an LED banner shop located on the ground floor of the building.

The fire then quickly spread to the adjoining PG accommodation, leaving residents with very little time to react.

As smoke filled the building and escape routes became unclear, several occupants chose to jump to safety while people below rushed to help them.

Viral visuals show chaos

Videos shared on social media captured moments of fear and confusion, showing residents climbing out of windows and leaping from upper levels.

Locals gathered outside the building and assisted those escaping before emergency teams arrived.

Fire teams control blaze

Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services personnel reached the spot soon after the alert and managed to bring the fire under control.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and how it spread so rapidly into a residential portion of the structure.

No deaths reported

Officials confirmed that no fatalities were reported and there were no serious injuries.

The swift evacuation by residents is believed to have prevented a much bigger tragedy.

Safety concerns rise again

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over buildings where commercial shops and residential accommodations function in close proximity without adequate fire separation systems.

Questions are now likely to be raised about fire preparedness, exits and safety compliance in such mixed-use properties.
