Bengaluru : Two men accused of stealing branded shoes from temples and apartment complexes over a span of seven years in Bengaluru have been apprehended by the Vidyaranyapura Police.
The police reported that the duo had stolen over 10,000 pairs of branded shoes. Upon searching the suspects’ residence, law enforcement recovered a staggering 715 pairs valued at Rs 10 lakh, alongside other stolen items. The investigation began when a theft was reported from a house in BEL Layout, prompting the police to uncover the extensive operation allegedly orchestrated by Gangadhar and Yellappa.
According to police sources, the accused operated by night, using an auto rickshaw to target homes and temples for theft. They reportedly sold the stolen shoes at discounted prices in tourist spots such as Ooty and Puducherry, and also supplied goods to local markets for profit.
The breakthrough came after CCTV footage captured the auto rickshaw used in a recent robbery, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspects on Wednesday.
