Bengaluru : A 30-year-old migrant laborer from Bihar has been arrested for allegedly mutilating a stray dog in Jayanagar, while the police continue their search for an accomplice involved in the case.
The accused, Nitish Kumar, was caught after animal activist Vidyarani M discovered the injured dog at Shalini Grounds in Jayanagar 5th Block on March 14. She noticed the bleeding animal and spotted two men fleeing the scene.
A case has been registered under Section 11(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act for animal torture and Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for maiming a creature.
The police have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
