Bengaluru Police Bust Drug Network Linked to Prison Inmate
In a major crackdown, Bengaluru police dismantled a drug network reportedly operated by a prison inmate, seizing contraband worth ₹71 lakh. On November 13, Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials arrested Fayaz Khan, 28, a native of Kerala, and confiscated MDMA crystals, hydro ganja, and ganja. His accomplice, Gautam, 35, was later apprehended in Nagarabhavi, west Bengaluru.
The duo revealed they sourced synthetic drugs from Kerala and distributed them to consumers through an online logistics platform, accepting orders via social media. Investigators discovered the operation was masterminded by jailed drug peddler Amir Khan. Before his incarceration, Amir supplied drugs to the suspects, and after his arrest, he allegedly continued directing operations remotely.
Amir Khan reportedly accessed a mobile phone inside Bengaluru Central Prison to coordinate with his accomplices. However, a subsequent CCB raid at the prison failed to uncover any electronic devices, leaving questions about how communication was maintained.
The arrests highlight the growing challenges of drug networks leveraging technology and prison access loopholes. Authorities are now focusing on strengthening prison security and monitoring systems to prevent such breaches.
