Bengaluru: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Bengaluru City Police have arrested 10 individuals and seized drugs with an estimated market value of ₹23.63 crore during coordinated raids conducted over the past few weeks.

The operations were carried out by police teams from multiple stations, including Yelahanka New Town, DJ Halli, Banaswadi, Koramangala, Bommanahalli, and Pulakeshinagar, following credible intelligence inputs about illegal drug trafficking activities in these areas.

Large quantity of drugs seized

Police recovered a substantial quantity of narcotic substances during the raids. The seized contraband includes 5.919 kg of MDMA crystals, 1.151 kg of cocaine, 21 kg of ganja, and 19 grams of ecstasy pills. Additionally, one two-wheeler used in the operation was impounded.

Officials stated that the seized drugs are valued at approximately ₹11.81 crore, while their street market value is estimated to be nearly double.

Accused include foreign nationals

Among those arrested are three foreign nationals, including two women, along with two local residents and five individuals from different states. Police said the arrests were made on different dates as part of a series of targeted operations.

All suspects have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Network targeted college students

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that they were involved in procuring narcotic substances from foreign, interstate, and local unidentified suppliers at lower prices. These drugs were then sold at higher rates to customers, including college students, with the aim of making quick profits.

Police noted that the operation has exposed a well-organised network involved in drug distribution across various parts of the city.

Investigation continues

Authorities have registered cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the respective police stations. Further investigations are underway to trace the foreign and interstate suppliers linked to the network.

Officials emphasised that efforts are ongoing to dismantle the entire supply chain and identify additional individuals involved in the racket.

Conclusion

The crackdown highlights the intensified efforts by Bengaluru police to combat drug trafficking in the city. With investigations still in progress, authorities are expected to widen the probe to uncover the larger network and curb the spread of narcotics, particularly among youth.
