Following the circulation of multiple viral videos featuring police personnel in uniform on social media platforms, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has issued a stern warning through an official circular.

In the circular, Commissioner Dayananda emphasized that such videos, which do not pertain to police duties, could tarnish the department’s reputation. He underscored that the police force is synonymous with discipline and commitment, and any actions contrary to these values could adversely affect public perception.

“The uniform symbolizes discipline, commitment, and dedication. Creating social media content unrelated to our duties undermines the department’s image. Posting reels or photos in uniform also violates departmental regulations,” Commissioner B Dayananda stated.

He further expressed concern about the proliferation of fan pages portraying police personnel as idols, urging for these to be regulated.

The circular also directs Bengaluru Police’s social media unit to intensify monitoring of platforms for such content and report any violations to senior officials for appropriate measures.
