In a concerted effort to address the presence of undocumented immigrants, Bengaluru Police, alongside the Central Crime Branch (CCB), have initiated a focused operation targeting foreign nationals residing illegally in the city. Officials confirmed on Tuesday that multiple individuals have already been taken into custody during this ongoing crackdown.

Two citizens—one from Nigeria and another from Senegal—were transferred to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for detention, as they had overstayed their permitted visa duration. In a similar move, three nationals from Cameroon and one from Sudan were relocated to a designated holding facility after failing to present valid residential documentation.

Additionally, five more foreign individuals were detained and handed over to respective local police stations, as they were already under investigation in various drug-related offenses. The police suspect that some of these individuals may have entered the country under false pretenses, including student or business visas, and later became involved in illegal activities.

This operation forms part of a broader strategy to maintain law and order, especially by targeting foreign nationals involved in narcotics distribution and other unlawful enterprises. With growing concerns over the misuse of visas and increasing instances of drug-related crimes, authorities have ramped up monitoring of both physical movements and digital footprints through dedicated social media surveillance units.

The Bengaluru police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and legality of all city residents, warning that more actions may follow in the coming days.
