In a significant breakthrough, the Madanayakanahalli Police have successfully apprehended an interstate gang responsible for a high-profile armed robbery. The gang, comprising Narayan Lal (43), Ram Lal (54), Kishore Pawar (25), Mahendra Gellot (25), Keertaram (42), Ashok Kumar (39), and Sohan Ram (32), all from Rajasthan, was apprehended after a dramatic turn of events. The police recovered stolen gold ornaments valued at ₹35 lakh, weighing 417 grams, along with a pistol, a country-made revolver, an auto-rickshaw, and a KTM Duke bike, all of which were used in the crime.
The robbery occurred on June 26 when the gang broke into Padam Gold Shop in Dombarahalli, Madanayakanahalli, Bangalore North Taluk. The robbers, armed with a pistol, threatened the shop staff and made off with a substantial amount of gold. Following the incident, a case was lodged at the Madanayakanahalli police station.
The investigation was spearheaded by Inspector Muralidhar, with oversight from Nelamangala DySP Jagadish. Leveraging CCTV footage and other technical evidence, the police swiftly identified the perpetrators. Their meticulous efforts revealed that the accused had been working in various establishments in Bengaluru, including gold shops, clothing stores, and chemical shops. Prior criminal records for extortion and theft were also uncovered, with previous cases lodged against them at the Halasuru Gate police station in Bengaluru and the Borunda police station in Jodhpur.
The gang had meticulously planned the robbery, opting for a location on the outskirts of Bengaluru to minimise their chances of being caught. They had procured a country-made pistol from Ashok Kumar, who had sourced it from Bihar specifically for this crime. The careful planning and execution of the heist, combined with the use of vehicles and weapons, showcased the gang’s experience and criminal ingenuity.
The prompt and effective action by the Madanayakanahalli Police has led to the apprehension of these seasoned criminals. The recovered evidence, including the stolen gold and firearms, has been crucial in linking the gang to the robbery.
