In a late-night crackdown, Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) registered 58 cases against individuals performing wheelies and detained 45 offenders on Thursday.

Authorities revealed that some violators were underage, while others managed to evade capture. To prevent stunts, the police restricted two-wheeler access on most elevated roads across the city that night.

Acting on a tip-off, officials intercepted 17 stunt riders near KR Puram. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), MN Anucheth, stated that these individuals were allegedly part of a larger group of nearly 200 riders who had assembled at Avalahalli for reckless riding.

To curb such activities, police heightened surveillance on key routes, including Old Madras Road, Tumakuru Road—especially near the Peenya flyover—and the elevated corridor on International Airport Road. Many offenders attempting stunts below these stretches were also nabbed.

Under legal provisions, offenders face a penalty of up to ₹25,000. Additionally, the police seize the motorcycles involved and initiate proceedings to either revoke or suspend their registration certificates. If minors are caught, their parents or guardians are held accountable under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for reckless riding on public roads.

BTP continues to monitor the city’s streets to prevent such dangerous stunts and ensure public safety.
