In the early hours of April 3, a woman was reportedly harassed while walking near a private university in Suddaguntepalya, southeast Bengaluru. Following the incident, the police have heightened their efforts to identify the individual involved, after footage of the event was shared on social media.

The incident took place around 1:52 am on I Cross, Bharathi Layout, when the woman and a friend were walking home. CCTV footage captured the situation, which was later shared by a local resident, Lokesh Gowda. He had come across the footage after it was brought to his attention by a neighbor who heard a woman’s scream the previous night. The video, which showed one woman being followed, sparked online discussions, though it was subsequently removed by the person who initially posted it.

While the women involved in the incident did not wish to file a formal complaint initially, they have since agreed to cooperate with the investigation. Authorities have been working to identify the suspect by analyzing CCTV footage from the area. The police have also increased their patrolling efforts to ensure public safety, particularly in areas that may be less monitored.

A case has been registered under Sections 74 (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), and 78 (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code, and police are continuing their search for the individual.
