In a move to safeguard sensitive investigation details, Bengaluru City Police have introduced a new in-house messaging application called ‘BCPChat’ for secure internal communication.

At a press briefing on Friday, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda emphasized the risks of relying on widely used foreign messaging platforms, which often host confidential discussions about ongoing cases. To address this concern, the department developed BCPChat, ensuring encrypted and secure communication exclusively among police personnel.

The app is designed to streamline daily police operations with features that allow officers to report crimes, share situation updates, and maintain case documents efficiently. Additionally, BCPChat provides ample storage space to manage extensive records and reports generated during investigations.

Commissioner Dayananda highlighted that this dedicated platform will help maintain confidentiality and improve coordination within the force, reinforcing data privacy in police communications.
