The Ashok Nagar police in central Bengaluru have filed a case against a motorist for allegedly groping a pedestrian, officials confirmed on Monday. The incident took place on March 6, around 10:15 pm, near St Michael’s Church in Shantinagar.

According to the police, the 20-year-old victim, a college student and resident of Shantinagar, was walking with two friends when a man on a white Honda Activa approached her from behind. The suspect inappropriately touched the woman before quickly fleeing the scene.

The victim filed a complaint on March 8, and a case was subsequently registered under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses assault or the use of criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspect.
