Four Bengaluru police personnel, including a sub-inspector and three constables, were suspended on Sunday for their involvement in allegedly framing two youths in a drug case. The officials, attached to the Banashankari police station, were accused of misconduct after an investigation revealed false information from police informants.

Details of the Incident:

  • Arrest and Allegations: On August 9, the police arrested two individuals for alleged drug peddling near Cement Road, Kadirenahalli. Over 400 grams of opium were reportedly seized.
  • False Claims: The accused’s family alleged that the arrests were fabricated and suspected the involvement of informant Rajan. A complaint was filed with City Police Commissioner B Dayananda, leading to an inquiry by Subramanyapura ACP Girish.
  • Findings: The investigation uncovered that informant Rajan had provided false information due to personal enmity with the accused. The police carried out the arrests without proper verification.

Officials Suspended:

  • Assistant sub-inspector S K Raju
  • Constables Satish Bagali and Thimmanna Poojar
