Bengaluru police have issued a strict warning against forcing individuals or businesses to support the Karnataka bandh scheduled for Saturday. The bandh was called by pro-Kannada groups to protest the assault on a KSRTC conductor in Belagavi, who was attacked for not conversing in Marathi with a passenger on an NWKRTC bus.
City police commissioner B Dayananda emphasized that any attempts to coerce participation will lead to legal consequences. To ensure law and order, 60 KSRP platoons, 1,200 home guards, and the entire civil and traffic police force will be deployed.
Despite the bandh, schools and colleges will remain open, confirmed Jagadeesha G, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner. He stated that ongoing exams must not be disrupted. The education department also assured that school-level exam schedules will remain unchanged. Additionally, CISCE-affiliated schools confirmed that the ISC Home Science exam will be conducted as planned.
Authorities have urged the public to go about their daily activities without fear, as security measures are in place to prevent disruptions.
