Bengaluru Prison Shakeup: 20 Under-Trial Prisoners Transferred Amid Security Concerns
In a significant development, 20 under-trial prisoners, including the notorious rowdy Wilson Gordon Naga, alias Nagaraj, were transferred to Hindalaga Central Jail in Belgaum on Sunday. This move follows the controversy over special treatment allegedly provided to Kannada actor Darshan and other rowdies in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
A viral photo showed Darshan enjoying coffee and cigarettes in jail, alongside Wilson Garden Naga, Kulla Seena, and his manager Nagaraja. The incident led to the filing of three FIRs, resulting in Darshan’s transfer to Bellary Jail with court approval. Now, Naga has also been relocated.
These transfers coincide with Darshan’s bail hearing today in the Renukaswamy murder case. His lawyer had filed a bail application in the 57th CC court on Saturday, prompting the judge to issue a notice to the prosecution and adjourn the hearing to today.
Darshan, a Kannada superstar, has been in custody for 102 days. His partner, Pavithra Gowda, had earlier submitted a bail petition to the High Court but later withdrew it. With the bail petitions of other accused individuals already rejected, today’s hearing is seen as crucial.
