Heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds battered Bengaluru between 5pm and 8pm on Friday, resulting in over 50 rain-related incidents across the city.
The BBMP control room reported receiving 52 complaints—19 about uprooted trees and 33 involving snapped branches. On Vani Vilas Road, a tree crashed onto power lines, sparking panic among local residents and causing traffic disruptions in the area.
In separate incidents, two vehicles in the South Zone and another in Dasarahalli sustained damage from falling trees. The downpour also led to extended power outages, with several parts of west and northwest Bengaluru left without electricity for more than three hours.
Civic authorities have requested residents to promptly report cases of tree falls, waterlogging, and other rain-related issues by calling the BBMP helpline at 1533 to ensure swift action.
