Bengaluru has secured the position of housing the second-highest number of India’s most valuable companies, trailing only Mumbai, as per the Hurun India and Axis Bank report released on Tuesday. The report highlights that Bengaluru boasts 45 companies in total, with 21 of them being startups.
Among the city’s leading companies, Infosys is ranked as the most valuable, followed by Wipro and Titan Company. Bengaluru-based startup Zepto tops the list of valuable startups, with an impressive 269% year-on-year growth. Other notable startups from Bengaluru featured in the Hurun 500 list include Zerodha, Razorpay, and Dailyhunt. These startups together contribute to a total valuation of ₹1.94 lakh crore.
The cumulative value of Karnataka-based companies reached ₹25.9 lakh crore, marking a 13% increase since the inception of the list in 2021. The report also notes that the software and services sector is dominant in Karnataka, with seven companies, followed by healthcare, financial services, and real estate.
Karnataka’s companies employ a total of 1.3 million people, a 29% rise since 2021. Nationwide, Reliance retained the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, with TCS and HDFC Bank following closely behind. The total net increase in value for startups on the list was ₹1.09 lakh crore, led by Zepto, OYO, and Zerodha.
