On Thursday morning, the people of Bengaluru were greeted with a refreshing surprise as light rains and overcast skies brought a much-needed relief from the blistering summer heat. Several areas across the city saw drizzles and showers, providing a cool escape from the otherwise warm temperatures.
By 7:20 AM, rainfall had been reported in areas like Sadashivanagar and Seshadripuram, while lighter drizzles were recorded in Malleswaram, Jalahalli, Mathikere, Peenya, R.T. Nagar, Mahalakshmi Layout, and Nandini Layout. However, the unexpected showers could create a ripple effect for commuters, with wet roads possibly causing slower traffic and minor delays during peak hours.
Social media quickly filled with posts and images capturing the cool, rainy morning. One user tweeted, “Cool morning in Bengaluru today, many parts of South India experiencing morning thunderstorms. Good possibility of scattered light rain or thundershowers across central KA, karavali, and malnad.” Another added, “Bengaluru weather is weathering,” highlighting how the pleasant change in conditions had everyone talking.
With traffic cops preparing for potential congestion, as rain could intensify through the day, the city is gearing up for a week of fluctuating weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rain throughout the week, with generally cloudy conditions and intermittent showers expected from April 3 to April 7. Sunday, April 7, is expected to bring more widespread rainfall, before transitioning to partly cloudy weather by Monday, April 8.
The recent rains have been a welcome respite for residents, easing the heat of summer. As the city enjoys this cool, rainy spell, citizens are encouraged to stay prepared for sudden showers by carrying umbrellas.
