A Bengaluru resident recently accused Blinkit, a quick-commerce app, of misleading customers with false promotions. The controversy began when the user ordered a 5L + 1L oil combo advertised at ₹1,072. However, only the 5L pack was delivered, with the promised “free” 1L missing.

Sharing their ordeal on Reddit, the user detailed the frustrating refund process. Blinkit initially offered a ₹100 coupon for the missing 1L oil. The customer, however, insisted the free oil held a proportional value of ₹178, arguing that it was integral to the deal. Blinkit countered, claiming the 1L pack was free and thus carried no monetary value.

The user alleged that Blinkit profits from such cases: “They make ₹178 more from customers who don’t notice and ₹78 from those who settle for less compensation.”

Determined, the resident escalated the matter to Blinkit Care on X (formerly Twitter). Following negotiations, Blinkit eventually refunded ₹180, framing it as a “one-time special permission.” While the customer achieved their goal, they noted another discrepancy—the MRP of the missing 1L pack was ₹215, meaning Blinkit could still profit from reselling it.

This incident sparked widespread discussion online, with several users sharing similar grievances about misleading practices in quick-commerce services.
