As 2025 begins, Bengaluru residents are pressing local authorities to tackle persistent civic challenges impeding the city’s growth. Delays in BBMP elections, poor inter-departmental coordination, and a lack of accountability continue to frustrate citizens, who are calling for better infrastructure, effective waste management, and improved public transport connectivity.
Whitefield & Mahadevapura
In Whitefield and Mahadevapura, outdated solid waste management systems and unmaintained roads remain critical concerns. Resident Murali Govindarajulu highlighted a 20-30% increase in housing over six years without corresponding infrastructure upgrades.
Horamavu
Horamavu faces deteriorating infrastructure despite rapid growth. Issues like water scarcity, broken roads, and failing stormwater drains dominate local grievances. Kochu Shankar urged sustainable solutions, including solar energy adoption and drainage improvements.
Hebbal & JC Nagar
Ward committee member Vidya Goggi pointed to ineffective ward-level governance. She criticized the neglect of CCTV cameras, unscheduled roadworks, and the absence of citizen involvement in key decisions.
Kanakapura Road
Abdul Aleem, of Changemakers of Kanakapura Road, emphasized the need for better railway connectivity and walkable footpaths, especially in South Bengaluru’s outskirts, where infrastructure remains underdeveloped.
The city’s residents are united in demanding transparency, accountability, and solutions to pressing civic issues that affect daily life.
