In a major boost to sports infrastructure, the Karnataka Housing Board has floated a tender to construct Bengaluru’s second international cricket stadium, proposed to be built in Anekal taluk on the city’s outskirts.
Mega stadium planned in Anekal
The proposed stadium will come up at Indlawadi in Suryanagara 4th Phase, with an estimated cost of ₹943.46 crore, excluding GST. Once completed, the venue is expected to accommodate around 80,000 spectators, placing it among the largest cricket stadiums in India.
Part of a larger sports vision
Officials stated that the stadium is part of a broader plan to develop a 75-acre multi-sport complex. The project aims to create a world-class sporting hub that can host both national and international events across disciplines.
The initiative reflects Karnataka’s growing focus on strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting athletic development.
Boost for cricket and beyond
The new stadium is expected to complement existing facilities and cater to increasing demand for large-scale sporting venues in and around Bengaluru. It could also ease pressure on current venues during major tournaments and events.
Beyond cricket, the integrated complex is likely to provide facilities for other sports, encouraging participation and nurturing talent at multiple levels.
Strengthening Bengaluru’s sports landscape
With Bengaluru emerging as a key centre for sports and fitness activities, such infrastructure projects are expected to enhance the city’s profile on the national and global stage.
The proposed development is also likely to generate employment opportunities and boost local economic activity in the surrounding areas.
