Bengaluru: Former Minister and Chamarajpete MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan on Monday December 5 reiterated his demand that if the Congress wins the state’s next election, senior leader Siddaramaiah be made Chief Minister. “It is up to the party high command to decide. But I still stand by what I said, and I’m even willing to give Siddaramaiah the Chamarajpete Assembly seat so he can run in the elections of 2023,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons at Vidhana Soudha, he said, “I am a son of this constituency, and Siddaramaiah is the son-in-law. He will win if he runs from here.”

When asked about former CM and JD (S) leader H. D. Kumaraswamy’s statement that C. M. Ibrahim could also become CM if the JD (S) comes to power, Zameer challenged the former to declare that a minority leader will become the CM even is there is an alliance government. Zameer challenged the BJP and the JD (S) to oust him from the Chamarajpet seat, claiming that no one could defeat him with more than 3,500 votes. “Even though former HD Deve Gowda and JDS leaders made great efforts to ensure his defeat last time, he only saw an increase in his winning margin,” he added.
