Bengaluru: It seems that former Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah is now taking the BJP’s Hindutva head on. At the time of his Chikkamagaluru visit on Friday August 19, he sent a powerful message to those who are portraying him as anti-Hindu.
For the first time, Siddu visited the powerful Veerashaiva math and Rambhapuri math where Jagadguru Prasanna Renuka Veerasomeshwara Swami, who has considerable clout on the powerful Veerashaiva mathas and voters across the State offered him a rudraksha mala. Siddu skipped visiting this mutt in Balehonnur all these years. He had one-to-one interaction with the seer where he spoke about the past decisions taken by his party.
Seer offered him a rudraksha mala. This offering which is considered a special gesture come when he was portrayed as anti-Hindu, anti-Veerashaiva, and anti-seers. By wearing the mala, he sent a strong message to all that he is not anti-Hindu.
His next stop was the Sringeri math where he met the junior pontiff of the math and interacted with him. Sringeri math is considered one of the major Hindu mutts in the country. Through this, he took away another weapon of the BJP.
It will be interesting to see how BJP will counter. With OBCs, and minorities rallying behind him, Siddu now took another step to wean his anti-Hindu image away to consolidate his position as the next CM of the State.
“Siddu wave likely to hit Karnataka like Modi wave which hit the country in 2014. He is likely to decimate the BJP and JD (S) with these calculated moves,” explained a BJP leader on anonymity.
