Bengaluru: The ‘Stop Tobacco App’ has been launched on the directions of the Health Minister Dr. Sudhakar. Through this app, complaints can be lodged against those who smoke in public places, said Health and Family Welfare Department Commissioner D. Randeep.
He was speaking at a programme titled ‘Tobacco Free Generation – Media Workshop’ organised by the Health and Family Welfare Service and the State Tobacco Unit in the City on Tuesday February 28. “If you find people smoking in a public place or selling tobacco products illegally, you can take a photo and send it to the ‘Stop Tobacco’ app. The concerned District and Taluk-level investigation team will then visit the particular area where the photograph has been within six days of receiving the complaint.
“The concerned persons will then penalise the concerned persons as per rules. The app will then send a message to the complainant from the control room about the action taken against the case,” he explained.
