The Times NIE Summer Training Programme at St Joseph’s Boys’ High School concluded on a high note on Tuesday, with 130 students from diverse schools receiving accolades after two weeks of hands-on journalism training. The participants showcased their learning through expressive placards.

Manish Kothari, President of ISBR Business School, was the chief guest and shared motivational stories about the importance of effective communication, seizing opportunities, and chasing one’s dreams. Kavitha Mohammad, Head of Counselling at Zinc Services, discussed career readiness and the future impact of Artificial Intelligence. She also presented findings from a psychometric test completed by the students. Additionally, Adhesh Chaddha, Head of Sales at Zinc Services, addressed the audience.

During the programme, students immersed themselves in various aspects of journalism, including reporting, editing, feature writing, and page design. They collaborated in teams to produce articles and design pages, gaining insights into the business side of media, including marketing, circulation, and advertising.

Special guest Siddharth Kothari, a former NIE summer trainee, shared how the training had shaped his career. Dr Sridhar B introduced a platform for inclusive education for special needs learners. In another highlight, Canon’s Mathew Mohan Das led a photography workshop, while other sessions focused on financial literacy and educational travel.

The programme concluded with an eye-opening visit to the Times Group printing press and Radio Mirchi station, offering students a practical perspective of the media world.
