The Talaghattapur police have arrested a swimming coach, Mamata (35), and an individual named Swami (45), for their involvement in the theft of gold ornaments from the dressing room locker at Swim Square, a swimming pool in Kembattahalli. The police recovered valuable gold jewelry worth 3 lakhs from the accused.

The incident occurred when a woman visiting the pool for swimming left her clothes and jewelry inside a locker in the dressing room before entering the water. Mamata took advantage of the situation and stole the gold jewelry, subsequently giving it to Swami with instructions to dispose of it. Upon returning to retrieve her belongings after swimming, the woman discovered that her gold jewelry had been stolen and reported it to authorities.

Following an investigation that included questioning members of the public and staff at Swim Square, Mamata admitted to committing theft under intense interrogation. She further confessed to giving the stolen items to Swami, who was identified as an acquaintance of her husband’s.

Both individuals have been arrested in connection with this case. This incident serves as a reminder for visitors to remain cautious about securing their valuables while using public facilities such as swimming pools.
